Many have joined up and purchased the Hard-Surface Collection these past two weeks and I`m sure that many more will in the future as more content gets released, But since the release I have gotten flooded with emails and messages from people either not interested in the whole collection or not interested in it because it contains products they already own but at the same time they really want to get access to some of the early access content as well as join the Discord. Just responding to these messages takes up a lot of time as well as some having quite an angry tone, making me feel like I’m selling overpriced loot boxes.
I knew this could probably be an issue from the beginning and therefore I justified it by keeping the price below what the new products would cost in total standalone, sadly I think this gets lost in the wall of text, and even if understood it might come of as getting less than others resulting in bad PR. I do want as many as possible to have access to my work as well as make the Discord a more lively community that is useful and enjoyable for everyone.
My idea to solve this.
After consulting with current early access collection members I have decided to simply release standalone early access for some of the products and also opening up the discord to the public but still keep the mentoring and other benefits to collection members only.
So with this change what is the purpose of the Collection?
- The collection is in total $85 cheaper than buying each product standalone, the early access standalone products will be sold at full price.
- Although I intend to open up the discord to the public all collection members will get a vip member role, as well as priority when it comes to feedback/mentoring etc, there will also be channels available only for collection members.

[Kitbash] - Hard-Surface Alpha Creation kitbash + Tutorial
This set would focus on teaching you my alpha/brush creation workflow as well as giving you access to kitbash parts that can work as a base to your own alpha and brush creation.
[SPMaterial] - Hard-Surface Materials Vol.1
This is a set of 20+ Hard-surface smart materials for Substance painter, over the years I have created a lot of materials for use in Substance Painter and I'm looking to refine them and get them out there.
[Alphas] - Hard-Surface Vol.3 + Masks
350+ Alphas with masks for use with the masked alphas tool for Substance Painter. Alphas can be used with any software that works with alphas such as ZBrush, Mixer, Substance Painter/Designer. Will also add some re baked alphas from Vol.1 and Vol.2 with masks.
This collection is an early access product, meaning that most products are still in production and there will be weekly updates until every product is finished, what you gain from buying the collection in early access is that you save $85 from the final single product price, and as more and more content gets finished I will increase the price so there is an advantage to get in early.
During early access you will also get vip status in the JROTools Discord group where you can give feedback and request more specific content, I also hope to use this group to mentor and help out other artists as well as share art and have friendly chats.
For people that already own some or all of my existing products that is included in this collection please don`t worry about not getting your moneys worth, I have set it up so that it`s still cheaper to buy this collection even if you already own all of my existing products, the total single product price for this collection is $210 and when only counting the unreleased products it would still be $159, so even if you already own all of my current hard surface products you are still saving $34 as well as getting access to the private discord, it might also help having all products in the same place. The price of the collection will go up once more products get finished so it pays of to get in early.
The reason why I choose to go with this format is mainly because I want to be able to release content faster, and with this setup I can more easily release the content that I have finished without the whole set and presentation being ready for release. I can also choose what to work on depending on the ideas that I currently have. For those not wanting to buy into the whole collection I will still release single products when they are ready, but my priority will be having a steady flow of updates added to this collection.
Another reason for doing this is that it allows me to see how much interest people have in the product and what I should prioritize, it also allows the customer to give feedback and make requests, so if you take part in the early access there is a chance you will get access to additional files that didn't make the final cut.
I have also wanted to start some sort of community with discord, a place to share ideas and feedback and help out without it being too crowded, and I think with this format it's easier to balance that.

I have just released the first volume of a tutorial series called Concept Masters.
I have teamed up with a bunch of multi talented concept artists and together we are releasing tutorials aimed towards both 2D and 3D artists, the main focus is the use of 3D as a base for 2D concept painting, I think any 3D artist that is looking to use their 3D skills to get into 2D as well as any 2D artists looking to add 3D to their pipeline will find this very useful.
Volume 1 is brought to you by Connor Sheehan, Connor creates stunning 2D environments and relies a lot on his 3D skills to build a base for his concepts, follow him as he takes you through modeling in Blender, rendering in Octane and painting in Photoshop, 9 hours of video with commentary and 19 hours of raw video, he also shares some of the tools and brushes he most commonly uses for his work.

I just released a new set of 70 Japanese Ornament Alphas that you can download right away, there will also be two more sets with the Japanese theme, Trim Brushes and Normal/Height Tile Patterns.
As I want to get this out as soon as possible I have decided to skip presentation for the next 2 sets and put everything in a collection product, which I will update every week, all files should be finished until 11/30.
